Recap and Review

*Warning Contains Spoilers*

The recent cancellation of this show doesn’t surprise me, but I’m still disappointed. I have been hard on it, and it took a while for me to warm up to it, but now that I have, I’m going to miss it. I’m going to miss its humor and sweet moments. Hopefully the season finale coming up will bring some closure and I in a year or so, I won’t be wondering about what could’ve been.

Now on to the review: Each story arc this week is cute and sweet. I feel this week it is more family-oriented, again. Still funny, but it seems like it deals with issues of the heart. I like this track. They haven’t always stuck to it and have taken to the more raunchy approach, but whatever.

Hillary and Warren discover all about college. Hillary goes to a science camp, and for the first time in her life isn’t the smartest person in the room. She doesn’t react well to it either, basically having a meltdown. She leaves the room and gets three baskets of fries. Warren makes her feel better, but she has to learn she isn’t always going to be the best. Based on Hilary’s character, I’m bettering she just becomes more determined to be the best.

Warren sees the benefits of college life, the cereal bar and laid back nature of no parents. Pete’s goal is to get him excited about college, so if he studies hard now, he’ll be able to go to a school that Diane approves of. Pete convinces Warren by showing him the film genre classes. This gets him really pumped and he ends up looking forward to college, making Pete the winning parent of the trip.

The other characters have their own fun night. Jackie tricks/convinces Kate to go to her high school reunion with her, as her wife. (A fact Jackie left out when she was getting Kate to go.) Kate is annoyed, but goes with it until she learns Jackie is saying Kate is just the arm candy while Jackie is a business mogul. This doesn’t sit well with Kate, because she feels insecure about her lack of finishing college and her job. They fight about it in the parking lot, but Kate ends up helping Jackie because she feels badly for her.

Meg and her burnout boyfriend are left to watch Bert. I’m sorry, but I’d never leave a child, especially not with people as irresponsible as Meg and Tevin. It’s still funny to watch the three of them interact, and see how Tevin acts like a child. This type of humor kept the show moving. It’s funny, but it isn’t the best part of the show. My thoughts on society as a whole choosing to be lazy coincide with the more serious storylines in the show. However, I know the show has to have a balance of Diane’s and Meg’s personalities to keep it in check.

Overall, this is a funny episode; Funny cast and great stories. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season plays out and says “Goodbye” to “Trophy Wife.”

I’m watching. Are you?
