After watching the “Pretty Little Liars” Halloween special, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the spin off. It seemed like a carbon copy of “Pretty Little Liars”, but I watched it anyway. Outside of it being a typical pilot where it summed up the plot and we met the characters, this show has one big hook: death. The town is full of it. Dead teens whose clones live, years later, and a soldier came home a lone survivor. Then five teens (the doppelgangers) are killed. It seemed like history kept repeating itself and created a huge body count in this pattern.
While we already knew Caleb, from “Pretty Little Liars,” we met Miranda, Remy, Olivia and Luke. While Remy, Olivia and Luke all know each other, right now Remy isn’t supposed to be talking to Luke and Olivia. For some complicated and unstated reason, they’re supposed to be staying away from each other. Remy is, however, Luke’s girlfriend, and her overprotective father couldn’t keep her away. This is especially true since her mother came home from war, and he’s isn’t the only parent anymore. Olivia and Luke are brother and sister, but tragedy struck in their family. Their father, the mayor was killed. Making matters worse for this family, is their mom is being accused of the murder.
Miranda was introduced in the Halloween special, and she came into Ravenswood to find her uncle and get away from her foster situation. Her parent died when she was young and this creepy and weird uncle sent her away without explanation.
Caleb came to Ravenswood to protect Hanna and her friends while they chased down another A and Ali lead. However, he stayed at Hanna’s request to protect Miranda. When he saw a grave with his name and face on it from hundreds of years ago, the mystery unlocked and he’s not going to leave until it’s solved.
The end of the episode came with all five teens in a car. Miranda jerked the wheel and the car crashed into the water. Questions of how many bodies would come out and how many would survive were asked. It was an interesting mystery and I’m eager to solve it. I’m sure it will come down to a curse or something. I know I don’t trust Miranda’s uncle. He seemed like he might be orchestrating everything. Then again, he might be the only one who can end it all.
I’m interested to see if Allison will play into it anymore. Since chased her is what lead the girls from “Pretty Little Liars” and Caleb there. But I think this storyline is strong enough to stand on its own. I can’t wait to see how everything plays out. I’m watching. Are you?
