It is with my uttermost displeasure that I pass on the news that ABC has choosen to not renew Nashville for a season five.
Deadline reports:
Signs had been positive on a Season 5 renewal for Nashville, co-produced by Lionsgate TV and ABC Studios. There had been excitement at the network over the hire by Lionsgate TV of veterans Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick, who already are working with writers on breaking stories for next season.
So this cancellation seems to be a surprising move. I am upset by it, especially where the story is. There is no possible way that I see for the story to come to a conclusion that is satisfying for the fans.
